Managing Stress

Here’s an exercise to help you to manage stress, which can be done either standing or sitting. Choose whichever is right for you.
  1. Breath as steadily as possible for a few moments to tune into the rhythm of your breathing.
  2. Now paying more attention to your breathing, breathe in for a count of 4, hold for a count of 4, breath out for a count of 4, and hold for a count of 4.
  3. Repeat this pattern for a further four cycles.
  4. If need be, repeat for another five cycles.
  5. Allow the pattern of your breathing to settle back into its natural rhythm.
  6. Repeat the exercise as necessary.
